Suspect in custody after a woman was stabbed multiple times at Spadina Ave and Sussex Ave Streetcar

Toronto — Police reported a STABBING at Spadina Ave & Sussex Ave at 2:01 p.m.

A woman in her 20s has been stabbed multiple times on a Toronto streetcar on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023. A suspect was arrested and the victim taken to hospital with what police say are “life altering” injuries. (image courtesy: Evan Mitsui/CBC)

Police are on the scene. It happened in a street car.

Investigators don't believe the suspect and victim know each other. The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times.

The suspect was arrested on the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital via emergency run and further updates from Police suggest that the injuries are life-altering.

A woman in her 40s has been arrested and will face charges of aggravated assault, police said. A knife was also found at the scene.

Duty Insp. Lori Kranenburg spoke to media at the scene at 3:30 p.m.
